Jay-forms are to be submitted to inform RMS that incoming students may be GATE/Seminar identified for numbers to plan for master schedule

Role of SGT in Wake of Other Groups
Jay-read SGT bi-laws-questioned how to be a part of other committees...how to hear from other committees (follow-through). We make committees but how do we communicate cross-committee?
Ehrlich-put committee minutes on google groups as a way to communicate
Boe-each committee report at staff meetings
Cortes-report minutes to Governance (sub-committee to SGT); staff does not necessarily understand role of governance; SGT created to have a shared decision-making process.
Ehrlich-difference between SGT & SSC?
Daniza-SSC handles "special monies" and decides where the $$ is allocated to support SMART goals; SGT created for parents & teachers to voice opinions
Abts-mentioned many sub-committees created through SGT
Boe-again, each committee reports to one another at staff meeting
Spaniol-tweak google groups to fit the needs of all staff/committee meetings
Ehrlich-each subcommittee have their own "files" in google groups
Cortes-role of SGT-more transparency between administration and teachers. SGT needs to be more formalized! Major decisions should come out of SGT, as each group/department is present at SGT
Oviedo-Garcia has not yet received workbook on budget, or a response on budget we are already receiving. Lack of communication from the top down.
Donovan-clarified news reports from last night...such as...no funding for magnet schools and considering increasing class sizes for those schools who do not meet their testing criteria.
Boe-stimulus package: SPED in San Diego is second largest
Cortes-wishes we had more insight and understanding as to the role of SGT
Abts-watched board planning meeting: district to look at magnet schools and scrutinizing more on a case-by-case basis; increase class sizes by one student for some grades: Staffing-leave replacement contracts would end June 30 (saves us 400-500,000, plus early retirement will save more) (probe 1, probe 2 or tenured would not be let go). No certainty until May1st, as that is when early retirement deadline is. Title I funding is down. No mention of QEIA. De Beck absent from meeting. Keep cuts away from classrooms. Grier mentioned 60-80 positions cut at district level. Possibly 633 to take the "golden handshake." At staff-discuss what we DON'T want.

All Committees to report at regular staff meeting following committee meetings so that we can all be informed as to what is going on at school. Someone from SGT will record and attach to these minutes.

Report all announcements/events to Daniza if you want it put onto the master calendar.

Boe-Weekly bulleting should be generated to communicate to staff
Abts-Remind staff to check master calendar before scheduling

Abts-If we hear about something happening that SGT SHOULD be making a decision about then this committee call them on it: i.e.: MASTER SCHEDULE

Cortes-per master committee, they want to dismantle model "A" for GATE & take away teacher preps
Donovan-who has the final say as to which model we have?
Cortes-GATE issues-will lose many students/parents if our model "A" is changed! Has suggested that we disseminate teams. Get rid of "teams." Humanities teaming instead, including non-GATE teachers. Math/Science teams
Jay-Restructuring of GATE meeting on 2/21...purposeful placement of master calendar with content areas first then purposefully place students based on profile cards

Master Schedule
SGT to make a decision to highly suggest GATE model & master schedule option.
Abts-Master schedule change is money driven
Jay-no time to make a decision/suggestion for Tuesday's meeting
SGT would like to be included on master schedule.
Restructuring is a Union issue

Jay & Ehrlich to Announce at Tuesday's Staff Meeting:
*Explain that SGT is the governing body that represents the best interest of teachers and students. It seems that the once strong decision making hub of this school needs to be reignited. With the many sub-committees that were born out of SGT, it only makes sense that we keep the doors of communication open so that everyone knows and can support the ideas and concepts brought out at each individual subcommittee. This will keep all staff members informed and keep conflict out.
*To reiterate that all committees report to SGT during whole staff meeting-info to be recorded on SGT minutes plus email blast out minutes to all staff. Keep share-out short, no more than 30-45 seconds-quick, easy, simple.
*Go onto master calendar page to check events before planning or scheduling

On behalf of SGT during master schedule discussion...
*SGT strongly recommends that GATE continues with tradition "A" model versus diversity "B" model to help staff with their decision-making process of master schedule
